JONAH MARKOWITZ HAS SIGNED ON TO DIRECT NICEST THING
After months of searching for the right fit, we are excited to officially announce Jonah Markowitz as our director!
He is sexy & gay, smart, & funny, AND he is a truly talented & dedicated filmmaker. What more could we ask for? We fell in love with him on our first meeting and his presence has breathed new life into our dream project.
Seriously, this guy is the business. His directorial debut was a movie called SHELTER which won “Outstanding Film” at the 2009 GLAAD Awards and a million other awards all over the country (and Canada) including Best New Director at the Seattle Lesbian & Gay Film Festival.
We are looking forward to working with Jonah and sincerely trust his vision for our film. In addition to directing Nicest Thing, he is assisting us in securing the funding we need to move forward.
Hopefully we have some more exciting news for everyone in the upcoming months!
WE GOT AN INDIGO GIRL!!!!!
We just wanted to update all of the contributors and supporters who are keeping track of the progress of Nicest Thing. We are still alive and trying to do everything to make this happen.
Our latest triumph is attaching AMY FREAKIN’ RAY of the INDIGO GIRLS! After a lot of scratching and clawing and begging and pride swallowing- we got the script into her hands… AND SHE SAID SHE LOVED IT! She agreed to give us the song True Romantic from their latest cd, Poseidon and the Bitter Bug. We are absolutely BANANAS for that song. She also offered to write and record an original song for the movie!!
We are still pinching ourselves over the whole thing. Amy Ray is an icon and a legend of epic proportions and it is a dream come true that she read our script and enjoyed it.

It never ceases to amaze us when we receive donations from people. Every single dollar helps and goes DIRECTLY to the making of this film. That being said, the money is nothing compared to the feeling that comes with knowing that a few people out there believe in this project. We get so many doors slammed in our face every day, and these donors inspire us to keep pushing.

We took the show on the road (all the way to Palm Springs) to promote our webseries on Autostraddle.com which in turn promotes our movie Nicest Thing. When you’re dealing with liquor and lesbians, the line between work and play becomes incredibly blurry, but we’re pretty sure we accomplished something at Dinah Shore. We just don’t know what. Yet.

On a corny note- there have been alot of ups and downs on the road to trying to get this movie made, and sometimes it can make us feel downright shitty- like we are just a couple of ugly, old, fat, no-talent, lesbian losers- and no one wants to work with us. But then- someone like Melonie comes along and she makes us feel like we are skinny and gorgeous and talented and that it’s all gonna happen for us.

WE WENT ON AN OLIVIA CRUISE…
We went all the way to Honduras and Belize to promote our movie and our new webseries. As usual, the ladies of Olivia were supportive and awesome. We are very fortunate to be a part of that group.
